Flames of War, Tutorial pintura paracaidistas americanos. Uniforme M1942 y M1943.

 

   Vamos con otro tutorial de pintura. En esta ocasión los paracaidistas americanos. Aquí os dejo el previo, donde os contaba todo lo que rodea al comienzo del pintado.

 PREVIO

    De los tres pelotones, uno lo he pintado con el uniforme M1943, el de color verde. El HQ y  dos pelotones los pintaré con el M1942, en tono marrón khaki.

Uniforme M1943: 

     1. Como os comentaba en el artículo previo, imprimamos a aero o pincel ( usa uno grande, con la pintura algo diluida) la mini con 70822 Camuflaje alemán pardo negro. Ese color servirá para crear las sombras de la figura. 

        ¿Cómo dar la pintura en los siguientes pasos? Pues tratamos de mantener ese tono en todos los contornos, recovecos, pliegues, líneas etc de las partes de la figura, sea en el uniforme, mochila, armas...De esta manera creamos las sombras sin necesidad de aplicar tintas. He pintado mucho tiempo con las tintas, y no sólo me gusta más este resultado, si no que, lo más importante, me parece más rápido. El proceso de color-tinta-volver a iluminar con el color base+luces es más lento. 

      2. Empezamos con el uniforme. Es el color predominante. Yo he optado por usar el 70.893 US Dark Green. Es un tono verde azulado oscuro que queda muy bien. 

     Las luces para el uniforme, en forma de finísimas líneas en las partes más sobresalientes, las hice con una mezcla al gusto de 70.893 US Dark Green+ 70.885 Verde Pastel. Este paso es vital para dar más vida y definición al uniforme. 

      3. Mochilas, cintas, packs médicos, correas de rifles, bolsillos, tiras de camuflaje del casco....El color base es 70.988 Marrón Caqui. Para las luces aplicamos 70.884 Gris Piedra.

       4. Casco. El color base es 70887 Brown Violet, después apliqué tinta nuln oli de GW, y tras secarse, pincel seco del color base.

       5. Rifles. La madera la pinté con 70.875 Marrón Beige, dejando como siempre, el color base como sombra, para definir contornos y separación entre distintas zonas. Los metálicos, con runefang steel de GW.

       6. Caras. Color base con 72.066 Carne Marrón y luces con 70.815 Carne Base. Si queréis definir más, mezcla del color anterior más blanco.

      7. Guantes. Muchos paracaidistas usaron guantes, sobre todo durante el desembarco de Normandía. Las minis las tienen esculpidos, así que elegí para ellos 70.912 Marrón Amarillo.

    Of the three platoons, I have painted one with the M1943 uniform, the one in green. I'll paint the HQ and two platoons with the M1942, in khaki brown.

     M1943 uniform:

     1. As I mentioned in the previous article, let's print with an aero or brush (use a large one, with the paint somewhat diluted) the mini with 70822 black brown German camouflage. That color will serve to create the shadows of the figure.

        How to paint in the following steps? Well, we try to maintain that tone in all the contours, nooks, folds, lines etc of the parts of the figure, be it in the uniform, backpack, weapons ... In this way we create the shadows without the need to apply inks. I have painted for a long time with inks, and not only do I like this result better, but more importantly, it seems faster to me. The process of color-ink-re-illuminate with the base color + lights is slower.

      2. We start with the uniform. It is the predominant color. I have chosen to use 70.893 US Dark Green. It is a dark teal shade that looks great.

     The lights for the uniform, in the form of very fine lines in the most prominent parts, I made with a mix to taste of 70.893 US Dark Green + 70.885 Pastel Green. This step is vital to give the uniform more life and definition.

      3. Backpacks, ribbons, medical packs, rifle straps, pockets, camouflage helmet straps .... The base color is 70.988 Khaki Brown. For the lights we applied 70.884 Stone Gray.

       4. Helmet. The base color is 70887 Brown Violet, then I applied GW nuln oli ink, and after drying, dry brush the base color.

       5. Rifles. I painted the wood with 70.875 Beige Brown, leaving as always the base color as a shadow, to define contours and separation between different areas. The metallic ones, with GW runefang steel.

       6. Faces. Base color with 72.066 Brown Flesh and lights with 70.815 Base Flesh. If you want to define more, mix the previous color more white.

      7. Gloves. Gloves were worn by many paratroopers, especially during the Normandy landings. The minis have them sculpted, so I chose 70,912 Yellow Brown for them.

       Terminado el primer pelotón con este uniforme, el M1943, y aunque había planeado pintar todos los pelotones con estos colores, decidí cambiar al uniforme M1942, el del desembarco. Quería tener variedad en los pelotones. Y al final, me ha gustado más este esquema, así que dos pelotones y los mandos irán en este uniforme, y un pelotón en el M1943. 

        Los colores que usé son: 

    1. Uniforme.   El color base es  70.988 Marrón Caqui , y las luces en aristas y pliegues,   70847 Dark Sand. 

    2. Mochila, cantimplora, bolsas, correas, etc, 70.886 Green Grey, las luces podéis usar 70.884 Gris Piedra. Aunque utilicé un tono un pelín más claro, pero es difícil de conseguir, de Panzer Series, el splinter base.

    3. Las tiras de camuflaje del casco, con 70,983 Tierra Mate, luces con arena marrón 70.876 Arena Marrón.

     4. Parches en coderas y rodilleras. En algunas minis, no en todas, para dar más variedad e individualidad, les pinté las rodilleras/coderas, ya que las usaron en Normandía. Base de   70.980 Verde Negro y cubriendo gran parte del color anterior, 70969 verde refractario. 

      5. Caras. Quise cambiar el tono anterior. Usé de color base  arena marrón 70.876, y luces con 70.860 Carne Medio, cubriendo menos superficie, y para terminar, una finísima y corta línea en la zona superior de los pómulos con 70.955 Carne Mate. 

     Rifles, guantes y casco, lo mismo que en el anterior uniforme.

     Para finalizar, y dar más vida al pintado y minis, hacerlas más especiales, pinté, más mal que bien, el emblema de las screaming eagles en todo el pelotón, y en el brazo izquierdo, sólo en algunos soldados, la bandera americana. La 101 no llevó la bandera en el desembarco de Normandía, pero quedaban muy bien, así que me tomé esa pequeña licencia histórica.

    Después del pintado del pelotón, terminé la decoración de las bases. Las ideas/objetos que tengo para peanas rurales se van terminando jeje, así que veréis que ciertos objetos son comunes a otras bases rurales que he pintado. Como novedad, introduje una torreta de sherman destruido, un muro de un cementerio/granja/casa de campo ( donde para darle vida, usé óleos para escurridos de suciedad verde y arbustos introducidos en las rendijas para simular musgo), cal50s y cal30s abandonadas, cascos con el naipe de la easy company, señales de direcciones a ciudad, unos arbustos/árboles de tamaño elevado, cubos, troncos, barriles etc etc. La individualidad en una peana es algo difícil y trabajoso, pero satisfactorio. 

      Pintar estos tres pelotones me ha llevado un mes aproximadamente( empecé el 11 de febrero), y he terminado el 19 de marzo, pintando todos los días entre media hora/una hora normalmente. Así que habré tardado unas 30-35 horas, o quizás más. 

After finishing the first platoon with this uniform, the M1943, and although I had planned to paint all the platoons with these colors, I decided to switch to the M1942 uniform, the one of the landing. I wanted to have variety in the squads. And in the end, I liked this scheme more, so two platoons and the controls will go in this uniform, and one platoon in the M1943.

        The colors I used are:

    1. Uniform. The base color is 70.988 Khaki Brown, and the highlights in edges and folds, 70847 Dark Sand.

    2. Backpack, canteen, bags, straps, etc, 70.886 Green Gray, the lights you can use 70.884 Stone Gray. Although I used a slightly lighter shade, but it's hard to come by, from Panzer Series, the base splinter.

    3. The camouflage strips of the helmet, with 70.983 Mate Earth, lights with brown sand 70.876 Brown Sand.

     4. Patches on elbow and knee pads. In some minis, not all, to give more variety and individuality, I painted the knee / elbow pads for them, as they were used in Normandy. Base of 70.980 Green Black and covering a large part of the previous color, 70969 refractory green.

      5. Faces. I wanted to change the previous tone. I used a 70.876 brown sand base color, and lights with 70.860 Medium Flesh, covering less surface, and to finish, a very fine and short line in the upper area of ​​the cheekbones with 70.955 Mate Flesh.

     Rifles, gloves and helmet, the same as in the previous uniform.

     To finish, and to give more life to the painting and minis, to make them more special, I painted, more bad than good, the emblem of the screaming eagles in the whole platoon, and on the left arm, only in some soldiers, the American flag. The 101 did not carry the flag at the Normandy landing, but they fit very well, so I took that little historical license.

    After painting the platoon, I finished the decoration of the bases. The ideas / objects that I have for rural bases are ending hehe, so you will see that certain objects are common to other rural bases that I have painted. As a novelty, I introduced a destroyed sherman turret, a wall of a cemetery / farm / country house (where to bring it to life, I used oils to drain green dirt and bushes inserted into the cracks to simulate moss), abandoned cal50s and cal30s, helmets with the easy company playing card, city direction signs, large bushes / trees, buckets, logs, barrels etc etc. Individuality on a base is difficult and laborious, but satisfying.

      Painting these three platoons has taken me about a month (I started on February 11), and I finished on March 19, painting every day between half an hour / an hour normally. So it will have taken me 30-35 hours, or maybe more.
