Let's go with another battle report. But this is something special. At the beginning of February from Facebook Søren Petersen, the Danish / Icelandic friend, another enthusiastic Flames of War player, and I, launched an event called Bring The Panther Back.
After painting the panthers, we had to test the panthers that we had painted in a battle report.
And here you have it. On this occasion I coincided playing with my arch enemy since time immemorial, the devious and trickster Alberto Ramos Serrano. Something retired these times, and having played 2/3 games in the last year, it might seem that it would be an easy enemy ... but nothing is further from the truth, not only because it plays well, also Flames is a game in general lines balanced, as would happen in the game ... Intro !!!
LIST AND MISSION. BATTLEFIELD.
I played the list of Panthers that I had published and publicized. Below you have it. It has everything. But his weak point is the assault. Panthers with their top and side are easy prey, and infantry with a motivation of 4+ is not reliable.
Furthermore, they are few platoons and not at all numerous.
Alberto didn't know what he would bring. Only he would bring Americans ...... he normally plays a lot of tanks. And little Infantry. If he did it like this this time, the panthers might have their chance.
But noo. Glups. He decided to bring an Armored Rifle Platoon plus another Formation of M10s. And he would defend. If there is something that is wrong with the list he played, it was that American list. Among so many bazookas and shots from MGs, entering the assault with the Panthers and Infantry was very very complicated.
Here below the lists.
An image of the battlefield and my list. Most of Alberto's forces were unpainted black or gray hordes, so I didn't take photos hehe
Tremendous battle. She had it all lost. And more against that American list. Alberto also I think he had very good luck. Although we both made a lot of mistakes. But after three consecutive rounds missing two, the third was successful.
One Stug, two Panthers, 2 stummels, HQ from the infantry plus two teams from the large platoon, the small platoon with three teams pinned the entire game, and the 4 mechanized Mortars. That was left to me.
Vibrant and brutal battle, fierce until the end, with a result that I thought in turn 4/5 that it would be an American victory, but that an extremis, I managed to turn around.
In wargames never give up. I always fight to the end even if I see everything lost. And again, I managed, despite the facts, to win that round.
Of course, the list shows the problems that I have already mentioned: the side, and assaulting with the Panthers is a serious problem. They suffer a lot. Same as infantry with 4+ motivation.
Although I am left with the fact that if the list of Panthers is in front of a list of tanks, and especially if they are heavy, it can do much better.
It is vital to have the Panthers HQ with their Old Hand rules close by so that Blitz and shoot and scout have guarantees of continued success. Thanks to him I did several Blitzes that were vital.
And as always, playing against Alberto, great, makes things really difficult for me. And that I had not played for a long time, showing that Flames is a very balanced game, despite the window with which I started to play much more. Although his list was the worst for me.
First test passed with the Panther list. There will be more battle reports.
I hope you liked it!
