TEAM YANKEE: NORDIC FORCES. Suecia, Noruega y Dinamarca.

 

Vamos con la segunda parte del análisis del libro de Nordic Forces. Si no leíste la primera parte, vistazo general y Finlandia, pincha aquí.

Let's go with the second part of the analysis of the Nordic Forces book. If you haven't read the first part, overview and Finland, click here.

SUECIA

Vamos con Suecia. Tiene tres formaciones, dos de tanques y una de infantería, así como supports de diversa condición. 

Let's go with Sweden. It has three formations, two tanks and one infantry, as well as supports of various conditions.

La primera formación es el extraño STRV 103. De factura sueca, sin torreta, introducido en los años 50, este MBT con la regla Ambush Tank ( permanece cuerpo a tierra aunque dispare) es perfecto para situarlo en cobertura, y disparar su cañón de 105 mm de at 21. Lo normal es que los disparos le impacten a 6+, o a larga a 7+. 

Su at21 es suficiente para abrir blindajes medios, pero ya el frontal 20 es impenetrable. Además, su rof 1 y overworked le condenan a ser un tanque eminentemente defensivo. Tiene difícil cazar laterales. 

Por unos quince puntos, tienes 3 carros. Precio medio.

La formación la completan diversos pelotones  de infantería mecanizados. 

The first formation is the strange STRV 103. Swedish made, without a turret, introduced in the 50s, this MBT with the Ambush Tank rule (stays prone even if it fires) is perfect to place it in cover, and fire its 105 cannon. mm of at 21. The normal thing is that the shots hit him at 6+, or long at 7+.

Its at21 is enough to open medium armor, but already the frontal 20 is impenetrable. In addition, its rof 1 and overworked condemn it to be an eminently defensive tank. It is difficult to hunt sides.

El Centurión forma la segunda formación sueca.  Es el tanque principal del ejército sueco. Es un Leopard 1 un poco más lento y mejor armado con el mismo L7 de 105 mm, pero con at19. Es relativamente barato para un tanque de la OTAN ( un punto menos que 10 los tres tanques) y también es impactado a 4+. 

The Centurion forms the second Swedish formation. It is the main tank of the Swedish army. It is a slightly slower and better armed Leopard 1 with the same 105mm L7, but with at19. It's relatively cheap for a NATO tank (one point less than 10 all three tanks) and it also hits on 4+.

La formación de infantería se centra en los Armoured Rifle,  una infantería más de élite, pero con gran capacidad antitanque. Van a ser bastante difíciles de sacar de una posición atrincherada y sus IFV vienen con cañones automáticos de 20 mm para supresión y fuego anti-helicóptero.

De nuevo, los veo más como una opción defensiva/maniobra que ofensiva. 

The infantry formation focuses on the Armored Rifle, a more elite infantry, but with great anti-tank capabilities. They're going to be pretty hard to get out of an entrenched position and their IFVs come with 20mm autocannons for suppression and anti-helicopter fire.

Again, I see them more as a defensive/maneuver option than offensive.

En cuanto a los support, variados y diferentes. Los suecos tienen sólidas opciones de apoyo. El IKV 91 tiene un cañón de 9 cm como cañón principal, que tiene un antitanque bajo de 17 pero también es increíblemente barato para tres vehículos. 

También tienen jeeps de rifle sin retroceso TOW  de 90 mm que son bastante baratos y precisos a distancia. Por 3-4 puntitos estçan muy bien con su at21-22.

El Bandkanon es un vehículo de artillería autopropulsado de 155 mm. El cargador automático le da un +1 para impactar equipos debajo de la plantilla de artillería. Por 9 puntos está muy muy bien.

Los suecos solo tienen un vehículo AA, su APC con un RBS AA 70 que sobresale de la parte superior.  Finalmente, tienen el BO-105 de Alemania Occidental con TOW como opción de helicóptero por doce puntos y el increíble Viggen con misiles Maverick, pero algo caro, a 16 puntazos..pero si entra en mesa, puede hacer mucho daño con esos misiles de alcence 90 cm¡ Yo lo jugaría sí o sí, para cazar blindados es un lujazo. 

As for the supports, varied and different. The Swedes have solid support options. The IKV 91 has a 9cm gun as its main gun, which has a low anti-tank of 17 but is also incredibly cheap for three vehicles.

They also have 90mm TOW recoilless rifle jeeps that are pretty cheap and accurate at range. For 3-4 points they are very good with their at 21-22.

The Bandkanon is a 155mm self-propelled artillery vehicle. The autoloader gives you a +1 to hit teams below the artillery template. For 9 points it is very very good.

The Swedes only have one AA vehicle, their APC with an RBS AA 70 sticking out of the top. Finally, they have the West German BO-105 with TOW as a helicopter option for twelve points and the incredible Viggen with Maverick missiles, but a bit expensive, at 16 points... but if it comes on the table, it can do a lot of damage with those missiles Reach 90 cm! I would play it yes or yes, to hunt armored vehicles it is a great luxury.

 

Como vemos, Suecia trae unidades muy diferentes a la par que peculiares, así que es una aportación muy valiosa ya que se sale de lo que hemos visto hasta ahora. Y viene con el tanque centurión en plástico...

Por cierto, los suecos junto a la clásica formación OTAN como aliada, también pueden coger unidades finlandesas específicas, como los T72 o la infantería y artillería ( Carnation).

As we can see, Sweden brings very different units as well as peculiar ones, so it is a very valuable contribution since it is different from what we have seen so far. And it comes with the centurion tank in plastic...

By the way, the Swedes together with the classic NATO formation as an ally, can also take specific Finnish units, such as the T72 or the infantry and artillery (Carnation)

NORUEGA

El tercer país nórdico, Noruega,  no tenía un gran ejército durante la Guerra Fría, por lo que los planes de guerra de la OTAN implicaban reforzar las posiciones noruegas al estallar la guerra. 

Además de la formación aliada normal de la OTAN, también reciben apoyo de la Marina de los USA Esto les da a los noruegos el apoyo de helicópteros y AA que tanto necesitan. 

La fuerza noruega en Team Yankee consta de dos formaciones, los  Leopard 1 e  infantería en el ubicuo M113. El Leopard 1 es como las otras naciones de la OTAN con Leopard 1, con morteros mecanizados y apoyo At en M113s. 

The third Nordic country, Norway, did not have a large army during the Cold War, so NATO's war plans involved reinforcing Norwegian positions at the outbreak of war.

In addition to the normal NATO Allied training, they also receive support from the US Navy. This gives the Norwegians much needed helicopter and AA support.

The Norwegian force in Team Yankee consists of two formations, the Leopard 1 and infantry in the ubiquitous M113. The Leopard 1 is like the other NATO nations with Leopard 1, with mechanized mortars and At support on M113s.

At twelve points the 4, same cost as that of the RFA. Below you have the specific units that the Norwegians can take from the USA. They will be welcome.

En cuanto a la formación de infantería, la principal diferencia entre el  M113 noruego y el M113 de la OTAN es que puedes reemplazar el M113 básico con el NM135, que es un M113 con un cañón de 20 mm. Esto le da a la unidad un poco más de potencia de fuego y apoyo anti-helicóptero. Los tres equipos de misiles antitanque Eryx también le dan a la tropa de asalto noruega un brutal antitanque de 24, pero con fp4+.  

Regarding the infantry formation, the main difference between the Norwegian M113 and the NATO M113 is that you can replace the basic M113 with the NM135, which is an M113 with a 20mm cannon. This gives the unit a bit more firepower and anti-helicopter support. The three Eryx anti-tank missile teams also give the Norwegian stormtrooper a brutal anti-tank of 24, but at fp4+.

Como apoyos, Noruega tiene unidades muy curiosas y carismáticas, entre las que sobresalen los M113 con capacidad AA,  jeeps armados con AA  y TOWs que tienen un aspecto fantástico. El M109 brinda apoyo de artillería y los Harriers marines son los aviones que pueden usar los noruegos.

As supports, Norway has very curious and charismatic units, among which stand out the AA-capable M113, AA-armed jeeps and TOWs that look fantastic. The M109 provides artillery support and the Marine Harriers are the planes the Norwegians can use

DINAMARCA

Vamos con la última nación del libro Nordic Forces. 

Los holandeses tienen un ejército pequeño pero cooperaron estrechamente con el ejército de Alemania Occidental para la defensa mutua. Lo que significa es que los daneses pueden traer un importante apoyo de Alemania Occidental, incluidos Gepards y Leopard 2.

Dos formaciones de blindados, los Leopard 1 y Centurión, y la infantería en M113. 

Let's go with the last nation of the Nordic Forces book.

The Dutch have a small army but they cooperated closely with the West German army for mutual defense. What it means is that the Danes can bring in significant support from West Germany, including Gepards and Leopard 2.

Los Leopard 1 son prácticamente iguales a los de la RFA, pero van en pelotones de tres ( diez puntos). Su at19 y rof dos en movimiento los hace buenos para cazar laterales,pero su skill a 4+, no, deberás jugarte el blitz a ver si te sale. 

The Leopard 1 are practically the same as those of the FRG, but they go in platoons of three (ten points). Their at19 and rof two on the move make them good for hunting wingers, but their skill at 4+, no, you'll have to play the blitz to see if it works out for you.

El pelotón de Centuriones daneses tiene la misma organización que el escuadrón Leopard 1, es decir, en número de 3, con  remount 3+, pero con rof 1 en movimiento. Tiene mejor blindaje que el Leopard 1, e incluso es más barato, a ocho puntos. Por esos puntos, puedes meter un puñado a buen precio, perfectos para cazar blindajes ligeros y medios. 

Y es algo que le hacía falta a la OTAN, tanques baratos. 

The Danish Centurions platoon has the same organization as the Leopard 1 squadron, that is to say, in number of 3, with remount 3+, but with rof 1 on the move. It has better armor than the Leopard 1, and is even cheaper, at eight points. For those points, you can cram in a handful at a good price, perfect for hunting down light and medium armor.

And it is something that NATO needed, cheap tanks.

La infantería mecanizada danesa carece de las armas antitanque de los otros países escandinavos, así como de cualquier tipo de cañón automático en sus M113. Morteros de 80 mm y 120 mm en M113, TOWs en 113, completan las opciones de la formación de infantería. 

Los jugadores daneses estarán felices de poder traer unidades de Alemania Occidental porque no tienen muchas opciones de apoyo. Su único AA son los equipos Redeye montados en M113. El reconocimiento lo proporcionan jeeps Mercedes con LAW at y ametralladoras. Los Centuriones de 20 pdr de at17  se pueden coger como un Centurión más débil y más barato para completar tu lista ( por cinco puntitos)

Danish mechanized infantry lack the anti-tank weapons of the other Scandinavian countries, as well as any type of autocannon on their M113s. 80mm and 120mm mortars in M113, TOWs in 113, complete the infantry formation options.

Danish players will be happy to bring units from West Germany because they don't have many support options. Their only AA is the M113 mounted Redeye teams. Reconnaissance is provided by Mercedes jeeps with LAW at and machine guns. At17's 20 pdr Centurions can be picked up as a weaker and cheaper Centurion to complete your roster (for five points).

CONCLUSIONES

En general, este nuevo Libro de Nordic Forces es un gran añadido a los países de Team Yankee. Son 4 nuevos países de la OTAN, con carros no demasiado caros, algo que les hacía mucha falta, y con mucha unidades nuevas y variadas. Variopintas, diferentes, y además, puedes coger unidades ( y no formaciones, que es muy diferente) de otros países en función del grado de alianza que tuvieran.

Aunque ya tengo dos frentes abiertos en TY por montar y pintar ( IDF y VDV) no estaría nada mal añadir a los finlandesdes como nuevo ejército...

Overall, this new Nordic Forces Book is a great addition to the Team Yankee countries. There are 4 new NATO countries, with not too expensive cars, something they really needed, and with many new and varied units. Various, different, and also, you can take units (and not formations, which is very different) from other countries depending on the degree of alliance they had.

Although I already have two open fronts in TY to assemble and paint (IDF and VDV) it wouldn't be bad to add the Finns as a new army...

Una entrada que seguro no os esperabais en el blog, y es este resumen del nuevo libro de TY. Os traigo en esta primera entrada una visión general del mismo y de Finlandia, para dejar para otra entrada el resumen de las fuerzas de Suecia, Noruega o Dinamarca. 

Este nuevo libro de TY nos trae muchísimas novedades, y lo mejor, nuevas fuerzas que añadir a las existentes.

An entry that you surely did not expect on the blog, and it is this summary of TY's new book. I bring you in this first entry an overview of it and of Finland, to leave for another entry the summary of the forces of Sweden, Norway or Denmark.

This new book by TY brings us many new features, and best of all, new forces to add to the existing ones.

 El libro contextualiza una supuesta invasión de Rusia a una Finlandia neutral, pero con relaciones con los países de la OTAN. Por eso en el libro Finlandia tiene la opción de coger aliados de la Otan, aunque el equipo y armamento que usa es ruso, debido a las relaciones económicas entre ambos desde el final de la IIGM. 

En esta primera entrada vamos a analizar las unidades y formaciones de Finlandia. Son 5 las formaciones disponibles, todas con material ruso. T72s, T55s, BMPs y BTRs. A todo jugador ruso le sonarán. 

The book contextualizes a supposed Russian invasion of a neutral Finland, but with relations with NATO countries. That is why in the book Finland has the option of taking NATO allies, although the equipment and weapons it uses is Russian, due to the economic relations between the two since the end of the IIGM.

In this first entry we are going to analyze the units and formations of Finland. There are 5 formations available, all with Russian material. T72s, T55s, BMPs and BTRs. They will sound familiar to every Russian player.

Como novedad con respecto a libros anteriores, Battlefront ha introducido organigramas de apoyo aliado específicos. En este caso, determinadas unidades suecas están disponibles para los finlandesdes, junto al resto de formaciones de la OTAN. 

In a novelty from previous books, Battlefront has introduced specific ally support organization charts. In this case, certain Swedish units are available to the Finns, along with the other NATO formations.

La primera formación disponible es la de los T72fm1. Las formaciones blindadas finlandesas se estructuran en el HQ, dos pelotones de carros obligatorios, y ya como opcional los AA, Carnation, e infantería en BMPs/BTR.

 Carro de factura rusa, el T72fm1,  nos encontramos con un blindaje ligero, pero su verdadera armadura es que es impactado a 4+. Monta el cañón típico de 122 mm de at22 rof 1. 

The first formation available is that of the T72fm1. Finnish armored formations are structured in the HQ, two mandatory tank platoons, and as an option the AA, Carnation, and infantry in BMPs/BTR.

  Russian-made tank, the T72fm1, we find light armor, but its true armor is that it is hit at 4+. It mounts the typical 122 mm gun of the at22 rof 1.

El coste, la mitad de 10 cada tanque. Personalmente, me gusta más la siguiente formación.

The cost, half of 10 each tank. Personally, I like the following formation better.

La segunda formación es la de los T72fm2. Mismo armamento, mismos stats ( mencionar el skill a 3+, lo que usando los estabilizadores, te puedes poner en 45 cm moviendo con un blitz), pero mucho mejor blindaje. 17, y con ERA. El pelotón de 3 cuesta casi veinte puntos. 

Me parece mucho más fiable esta variante que la anterior. 

Ah, mencionar también que todos los carros finlandeses, como en Flames, son lo mejor de lo mejor, a 3+ el coraje, moral y remount, por lo que normalmente van a aguantar hasta el final. 

The second formation is that of the T72fm2. Same weapons, same stats (mention the skill at 3+, which using the stabilizers, you can move within 45 cm with blitz), but much better armor. 17, and with ERA. The squad of 3 costs almost twenty points.

I find this variant much more reliable than the previous one.

Oh, also to mention that all the Finnish tanks, like in Flames, are the best of the best, at 3+ courage, morale and remount, so they will usually hold out until the end.

Una última formación de carros es la de los T55M, los pelotones van en número de 3. También muy jugable, ya que por 23 puntos tienes 10 T55s, impactados a 4+, "fearless " y skill 3+. Bien cuidados, de cober en cober, pueden dar sustos. 

Vamos con las formaciones de infantería. Hay dos que tienen a los BMPs de factura soviética como su APC principal, y otra formación, a los BTRs.

Tanto la de BMP1 como BMP2 son iguales en su composición. HQ más dos pelotones compuestos de 6 equipos en BMPs ( uno de ellos pueden coger un Apilas). Los apoyos son un pelotón de tanques, morteros a pie de 81 y 120 mm ( con BTRs) con humo, por tres o cuatro puntos cada uno,  AA de infantería y los rifles At de 95 mm, baratos, y que aportan una buena capacidad at de entre 18-21. Los pelotones de infantería se mueven en torno a los seis u ocho puntos cada uno. 

One last formation of tanks is that of the T55M, the platoons go in number of 3. Also very playable, since for 23 points you have 10 T55s, hit at 4+, "fearless" and skill 3+. Well cared for, from cover to cover, they can give scares.

Let's go with the infantry formations. There are two that have Soviet-made BMPs as their main APC, and another formation, BTRs.

Both BMP1 and BMP2 are the same in their composition. HQ plus two squads made up of 6 teams in BMPs (one of them can take a Stack). The supports are a platoon of tanks, 81 and 120 mm foot mortars (with BTRs) with smoke, for three or four points each, infantry AA and 95 mm AT rifles, cheap, and that provide a good capacity at between 18-21. The infantry squads move around six or eight points each.

Pelotones muy completos, "fearless", skill 3+, pero pegan a 4+ y contraatacan igual.

 Very complete platoons, "fearless", skill 3+, but they hit 4+ and counterattack the same.

La formación de BTRs difiere en que los equipos de infantería son 9, dos de ellos con rifles at de 55 mm de at 14, y uno de ellos se puede sustituir por un Apilas. La composición de la formación es la misma que la de los BMPs.

A mí son formaciones que me gustan mucho. Baratas, con mucha variedad de opciones entre las que elegir ( AA, At,artillería, humo, muy buenas características, y baratos en general).

Vamos con los support. Muchos, variados y buenos.  Artillería de nuevo de factura rusa, como los Carnation, o los BM21, T55 Marksmann y ZSU 57 como AA,  PstOhj 83 (iTOW) missile team de infantería ( at21). La aviación depende de los Viggen Suecos. 

The formation of BTRs differs in that there are 9 infantry teams, two of them with 14 AT 55mm rifles, and one of them can be replaced by an Apilas. The composition of the formation is the same as that of the BMPs.

To me they are formations that I like a lot. Cheap, with a lot of options to choose from (AA, AT, artillery, smoke, very good features, and cheap in general).

Let's go with the supports. Many, varied and good. Russian-made artillery again, such as the Carnation, or the BM21, T55 Marksmann and ZSU 57 as AA, PstOhj 83 (iTOW) infantry missile team (at21). Aviation depends on the Swedish Viggen.

Cada vez que veo las fuerzas finlandesas, más me gustan. Es la facción más variada de las presentadas en el libro, con formaciones de tanques e infantería, y viables en el juego. Infantería de calidad, con capacidad at, artillería, AA, humo, es que lo tienen todo.

En cuanto a las formaciones de carros, la de T72FM2 y T55s, se pueden jugar perfectamente, la primera por su calidad ( y no especialmente caros) y la segunda, por que es barata, y al final con el skill a 3+ y moviendo 35 cm puedes coger laterales de MBts enemigos y destruirlos a pesar de tener un solo tiro de at19 fp2+.

 

Una grata sorpresa este nuevo libro de battlefront Nordic Forces, que traerá más variedad al juego, y que seguro os gustará por traernos nuevos países y unidades con los que jugar. 

Estad atentos, por que en la próxima entrada os haré un resumen de suecos, noruegos y daneses. 

Every time I see the Finnish forces, I like them more. It is the most varied faction of those presented in the book, with formations of tanks and infantry, and viable in the game. Quality infantry, with AT capacity, artillery, AA, smoke, is that they have it all.

As for the tank formations, the T72FM2 and T55s, they can be played perfectly, the first for its quality (and not especially expensive) and the second, because it is cheap, and at the end with the skill at 3+ and moving 35 cm you can take sides of enemy MBts and destroy them despite having a single shot of at19 fp2+.

 

A pleasant surprise is this new Nordic Forces battlefront book, which will bring more variety to the game, and which you will surely like for bringing us new countries and units to play with.
