Flames of War: Balance 2020

we close 2020. A brief entry as a conclusion and balance of it.

2020 will be the year of the Covid-19. On the subject at hand, Flames, also affected its production multiple times, slowing down scheduled releases. Despite this, in April we had the British D-Day book, and then the Waffen-SS in Normandy, Russian Bagration, and right now we'll have the German book on the eastern front, Bagration. I am already working on the entry to make an analysis of it.

4 books almost by 2020. What battlefront had scheduled. Things came out for Mid too, like British Paracas and Commandos, American Rangers and Paracas and, I think, German fallschirmjager.

2021 will bring us as many books, both in Late and Mid. The Bagration of the minor Axis nations (Hungarians, Romanians and Finns) are expected, for Mid as well, and the three books of the Ardennes for British, Germans and Americans. Let's hope to see the Pacific with Japanese and Marines.

Little by little, at a slow but regular pace, all the scenarios are emerging. The diversity and variety are increasing, and the possibilities of building lists are expanding more and more.

Throughout 2020, the Infantry formations have been configured as the basis of the lists. Be defensively with cannon and at weapon supports (plus some mobile reserves), or offensively with armored supports.

As for the blog itself, I close this 2020 with a record of entries never reached before. 72 entries (3 of them from fellow Hobbyists -Søren and Mario Sánchez). A work of perseverance and tenacity that costs me what I do hehe. But that without the support received to move forward it would not be possible. Either in the form of words directly dedicated, comments, or number of visits to the entries.

I have brought you tournament tickets, painting, book reviews, news, battle reports etc etc. A little bit of everything I think makes it more interesting.

As for my experiences in tournaments and friendly games, I am still a gamer ... We started 2020 in January with a tournament in Salamanca, in February another in Badajoz (we even had another scheduled for May within the framework of a Modeling conference in Olivenza ), and then the Covid arrived and everything came to a standstill.

After confinement, I continued with my usual pattern of weekly games, and since there are no tournaments, so we continue. I really hope that 2021 relays the whole panorama of tournaments in all the wargames. Meeting place for outsiders united by the same hobby. I will always recommend you go.

Painting purposes for 2021: paint (even more so) Panthers for a specific list with 7 of them. 2 tigers. 7 Churchills. 11 cromwells. SS heavy mortars, HQ plus panzergrenadier platoons on urban bases, German Recon Company Formation, British D-Day Partisans and FTPs, 4 Stugs, 4 ISUs, Australian Mid Platoon, 5 E8s, Jumbos, Kihei Company, Chi-Ros ... .bufff I stop that I have many things to paint, what amount of accumulated things, and many repeated since I want to renew them ...

 And yours, many purposes?

So Happy 2021. I look forward to bringing you Flames of War tickets from Burger Hill.

Flames of War.

Si dos rivales eligen maniobra, a batallas equilibradas, estilo Free for all o encounter.

Necesitas unidades para defender. Infantería y cañones at.

Ésta no la he probado.

ENGLISH

Third and last of the entries dedicated to how to make lists to play with the different battle roles of the battleplans.

Here the first entry. Defense lists.

And here the second. Attack lists.

Maneuver. The intermediate point between the previous two. It is complex to define how to make a maneuver list, since it must be able to attack and defend based on the rival list.

If you choose to maneuver, you will defend against a list that decides to attack, and you will attack against a list that decides to defend. Therefore, you can be the attacker or defender depending on the opponent's list, so you have to choose a series of options in the configuration of the list that are essential.

The first thing to do is take a look at the mission table of the battleplans.

If you choose to maneuver and the opponent to attack, you will go on missions that were previously called mobile. Generally these missions are usually played until turn 6. Yes or yes. And then the victory conditions begin to be checked. This is very important, because you know that your reserves are going to enter you as a defender. You have an ambush, too. And you will need to move to the objectives, since there are missions in which you have one of them far away, such as breakthrough. Or Contact, where both contenders have objetives.

Of the 6 missions if the opponent chooses to attack and you to maneuver, 4 are until turn 6 yes or yes. Less killing ground and contact. Important to play with peace of mind. And know that you have until 6. The attacker must expose himself. You have an ambush. You can do a lot of damage.

If you choose maneuver and the rival defense, the same missions as the previous ones, but now you are the attacker. Again, you will need mobility and units that can assault.

If two rivals choose to maneuver, to balanced battles, Free for all style or encounter.

Conclusions: you need units to defend. Infantry and cannons at. And units to Attack. Infantry, armor and artillery.

That is, we must make a list with infantry, armor, artillery and, this is what is different from an attack list, ONE unit of cannons at in case you have to defend. One is enough. We can't spend any more points on it. In addition, some cannons can be used to defend even two objectives at times. And more if we leave it in ambush.

A few recon on these lists (as opposed to defensive ones, for example) are great. Because many times the objectives are far from each other in different quadrants, and with the recon (and if you are a defender, you are first to spearhead) it allows you to advance your units.

When I make a defense list I normally carry two cannon units. Well, in this case, one works for us. We must invest points in infantry, artillery and armor. Since we are going to need mobility. Greater than in a defense since it is possible that we attack, or that we defend.

That is why I tell you that it is an intermediate point between attack and defense lists.

Is the sense of the option to choose maneuver clear and the need to include infantry, artillery, armor and a unit of cannons in the lists at? If someone sees it differently, I would very much like to share their opinions and we can discuss it.

As an example of what I am telling you, I am going to give you two maneuver lists. An ally and another from the axis.

I tested the German list the other day against Russians and it went very well. My rival attacked. I left the paks40 in ambush. They were lethal. And then destroying more cars. One survived at the end of the game. At the end of the article, photos of the game.

Lists above.  Pics from the Battle, down.

CONCLUSIONS

And well, with this I finish the Trilogy of how to make attack, defense and maneuver lists with battleplans. These are those played and accepted internationally in friendly games, and the way to determine attacker and defender in tournaments.

All this that I have told you is the result of my experience in games. There is no theory. Everything I tell you I have tried in the hundreds, yes, hehe, hundreds of games (I am a gamer, and I always have been) that I have already been from v4. Both in friendly games and in tournaments. And from V4 I've been to quite a lot already.

If there is a common point that the three types of lists share, it is that their essence lies in the concept of what are called Combined Arms, that is, the inclusion of infantry, artillery and armor in the lists. In different proportions depending on the role you choose. One can keep lists of "all tanks", or "all infantry plus guns", but then we move on to the classic rock-paper-scissors.

Combined weapons allow you to cope with any situation. And it is not something that I only understand it that way, as v4 has been developing, it has been and is the type of lists that predominate at all levels. Furthermore, I could even say that now the infantry is the key to any list. You can take a look at the Tournaments tab, and see that the vast majority of tournaments have been won with infantry formations as the basis of the lists. Afterwards, their supports vary greatly.

I hope that you have drawn conclusions from these three articles, and that they help you to make your list

Flames of War, tutorial pintura: paracaidistas británicos y 17 pdr.

Oootrraaa vez volviendo a retocar/repintar.

Mochilas, correas, cartucheras: Green Grey 70.886

Pantalones: english uniform 70.921

Rifle y madera: beige brown  70.875
