FLAMES OF WAR: 80 ANIVERSARIO DEL DÍA D, LIBRO D-Day: Forces in Normandy, 1944

 

Con motivo del 80 aniversario del Día D, Battlefront ha preparado un nuevo lanzamiento, pero basado en los libros ya publicados de Late War con nuevas aportaciones.

Battle of France, D-Day, Forces in Normandy recoge en un solo volumen de más de 300 páginas los libros británico, americano, y alemán del Día D . Éste aparece dividido en varias partes, ya que por un lado tenemos las fuerzas del Heer, Waffen-SS, y la 21 Panzer. Éste fue un libreto que lanzaron individualmente y que ahora también se recopila en el presente volumen. 

En total, el libro recopila los 5 libros que salieron hace años en uno solo. Todas sus formaciones y supports están en el nuevo libro, pero además,  los tres ejércitos de Normandía reciben nuevas unidades o formaciones que después analizaré más detalladamente en cada sección ( que o bien salieron más tarde o que no habían estado disponibles). On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, Battlefront has prepared a new release, but based on the already published Late War books with new contributions.

Battle of France, D-Day, Forces in Normandy collects in a single volume of more than 300 pages the British, American, and German books of D-Day. This appears divided into several parts, since on one side we have the Heer forces , Waffen-SS, and the 21st Panzer. This was a booklet that they released individually and which is now also compiled in this volume.

That is, the three armies of Normandy receive new toys that I will later analyze in more detail in each section. Below, the book's index.

FORCES OF WAR

Una novedad muy muy jugosa que ha introducido battlefront en este libro, y esperemos que en los sucesivos. Es algo que se les sugirió cuando hace unos meses decidieron subir el precio de las listas del Forces, ya que ahora toda lista va con sus tarjetas de unidades obligatoriamente ( si compras 5 o más unidades, te hacen el 25% de descuento). 

Con la compra del libro, te van a proporcionar un código para que puedas desbloquear las listas del Forces of War. Me parece una decisión acertadísima ( aunque hubiera estado bien implementarla hace un tiempo). Solo por esto, ya merece la pena comprar el libro si no tenías las listas en el Forces. 

A very very juicy novelty that Battlefront has introduced in this book, and hopefully in subsequent ones. It is something that was suggested to them when a few months ago they decided to raise the price of the Forces lists, since now every list necessarily comes with its unit cards (if you buy 5 or more units, they give you a 25% discount).

With the purchase of the book, they will provide you with a code so you can unlock the Forces of War rosters. It seems like a very good decision to me (although it would have been nice to implement it a while ago). For this alone, it is worth buying the book if you didn't have the lists in Forces.

ALEMANES/ GERMANS

Las novedades para los alemanes las encontramos en que el libreto de la 21 Panzer está ahora dentro de esta recopilación. Encontramos dos formaciones, la Hotchkiss Assault Gun, y la 21 Panzergrenadier con sus cacharros franceses reconvertidos.

The news for the Germans is that the 21 Panzer book is now included in this compilation. We found two formations, the Hotchkiss Assault Gun, and the 21 Panzergrenadier with their converted French guns.

Hay un cambio, y es que ahora puedes llevar a los 7 equipos en 4 U304(f), no solo en los 7 semiorugas, si no también en 4, lo que abarata algo más el coste. 

There is a change, and that is that now you can carry the 7 teams in 4 U304(f), not only in the 7 half-tracks, but also in 4, which reduces the cost a little more.

Por último, en el libro del Día D del 2020 no estuvieron estos míticos cazacarros pertenecientes al 654 Heavy Tank-hunter battalion, los Jagdpanther, que ahora hacen su aparición al mismo coste y características que los del Bulge. 

Finally, these mythical tank destroyers belonging to the 654 Heavy Tank-hunter battalion, the Jagdpanther, were not included in the 2020 D-Day book, which now make their appearance at the same cost and characteristics as those of the Bulge.

BRITÁNICOS/BRITISH

Tenemos nuevas incorporaciones para los británicos con la introducción del Challenger. Fue un carro que llegó a Normandía ( y que Battlefront no introdujo en los libros por que no tenían el modelo en plástico) y que se incorporó a la 11th División en su Cromwell Armoured Recce. 

Ahora, por 23 puntos, tienes 3 cromwells y un firefly, recon, y con motivación 4+. Caro, sí, pero es algo más jugable que los tres cromwells por 17 puntos. Además, esos 23 puntos pueden encajar muy bien para reservas. 

We have new additions for the British with the introduction of the Challenger. It was a tank that arrived in Normandy (and that Battlefront did not introduce in the books because they did not have the plastic model) and that was incorporated into the 11th Division in its Cromwell Armored Recce.

Now, for 23 points, you have 3 cromwells and a firefly, recon, and with motivation 4+. Expensive, yes, but it is somewhat more playable than the three Cromwells for 17 points. Furthermore, those 23 points can fit very well for reserves.

El Challenger también fue incorporado a las Ratas del Desierto, la 7th, sustituyendo al firefly en los pelotones de Cromwells. Por un punto más, puedes incorporar al Challenger; de nuevo, te puede servir para cuadrar reservas, y por qué no, jugar al challenger con su velocidad de 60 cm a dash.

Las últimas novedades proceden del Bulge. Los Sextons, que ahora sí cuestan 12 puntos, y los Bofors SP, que con su Gun shield pueden aguantar algo más. Muy jugables para destruir armoured tan teams de Top 0 que tanto abundan. 

 

The Challenger was also incorporated into the Desert Rats, 7th, replacing the firefly in Cromwells platoons. For one more point, you can add the Challenger; Again, it can help you balance reserves, and why not, play the challenger with its speed of 60 cm at a dash.

The latest news comes from the Bulge. The Sextons, which now cost 12 points, and the Bofors SP, which with their Gun shield can last a little longer. Very playable to destroy armored teams from Top 0 that are so abundant.

EEUU

Para los yankees, tenemos una nueva formación, la de los M18 Hellcat, que llegaron a Normandía con el 705 Batallón de destructores de tanques. 

Algo distintos a los del Bulge americano, ya que son trained, y por tanto, ven abaratado su coste ( básicamente es la carta de mando del Bulge ya aplicada a esta formación del Día D).

For the Yankees, we have a new formation, that of the M18 Hellcat, which arrived in Normandy with the 705th Tank Destroyer Battalion.

Somewhat different from those of the American Bulge, since they are trained, and therefore, their cost is lower (basically it is the Bulge's command card already applied to this D-Day formation).

MISIONES/MISSIONS

Las 300 y pico páginas del libro se completan con una recopilación de las misiones de todos los libros; asaltos anfibios y aerotransportados, batallas entre el bocage...etc etc Muy muy chulas muchas de ellas.

Además cada ejército viene con una Guía de pintura, que te puede ayudar mucho a la hora de pintar tus tropas.

 The 300-odd pages of the book are completed with a compilation of the missions from all the books; amphibious and airborne assaults, battles between the bocage...etc etc. Many of them are very very cool.

Additionally, each army comes with a Painting Guide, which can help you a lot when painting your troops.

CONCLUSIONES

Al estilo del North Africa y Eastern Front de Mid War, este Forces in Normandy es, para los que NO tengan los libros anteriores de Normandía,  un MUST. Tener todo recopilado en un libro es un lujo, con las  nuevas incorporaciones o novedades; y lo mejor, es que tienes acceso en el Forces a todas estas listas. 

Incluso si tenías los libros, pero no las listas del Forces, quizás hasta te pueda interesar solo por esto mismo. 

Esperemos que Battlefront siga por este camino en sus futuros libros ( aunque suban algo de precio,merecerán la pena).

In the style of Mid War's North Africa and Eastern Front, this Forces in Normandy is, for those who DO NOT have the previous Normandy books, a MUST. Having everything compiled in a book is a luxury, with new additions or news; And the best thing is that you have access to all these lists in Forces.

Even if you had the books, but not the Forces lists, you might even be interested just for that reason.

Let's hope that Battlefront continues down this path in its future books (even if they raise the price a little, they will be worth it).
